Pulled away from Berry Island Reserve, Hiroba admires the reserve from afar while reclaiming an industrial port at Balls Head for recreational, free public use. Hiroba is a teaching and learning space, inviting the public to explore the history of the Berry Island Reserve through storytelling, art, exhibitions, and seminars. The project is an arrangement of pavilions connected through their materiality and architectural language. Hiroba aims to explore the First Nations Peoples' understandings and teachings of Earth, Sky, and Water as interconnected, through various senses, material choices, tactile qualities and sustainable aspects.
