The Silos Theatre design honours Glebe Island’s forgotten industrial past, embedded in the theme of permanence while revitalising it as a vibrant public space. A wetland park is integrated in the site, with a bridge connecting to the project to symbolise a transition from nature to the built environment, leading to a plaza with Sydney Harbour views. Inspired by Glebe Island’s iconic industrial silos, the design and theatre incorporate this geometry with a central skyspace. The materiality strengthens the dialogue between past and present, while wetlands promote harmony with nature, creating an interactive, dynamic space for the community.
