Proposed for the Russian Embassy in Indonesia, this spatial narrative explores the dialectic of implicit and explicit power, capturing the dualistic character embedded in the Russian nation. Inspired by Gogol's “The Nose”, it is a mirror that reflects the glamor and reality of society, revealing the extremely central will and dualism of the Russian nation throughout its history. As a carrier to reshape the image of the nation, the building itself is both reclusive and voyeuristic, as well as an embodiment of extreme power, in an attempt to present a dialogue that is both subtle and contradictory.
The implicit architectural power is presented through different levels of social intimacy, counterbalancing the transparency of public openness with political secrecy.
The architecture language of explicit power erects hierarchical Power Structures with absolute linear order and centripetal application.
The complete transparency and visualization of the lower power hierarchy areas to Those in Power creates an absolute hierarchy within the realm of power.
To reshape Russia's national image by strengthening community bonding through intercultural and artistic exchanges, the Space creates openness at different levels.
