Bird-eye view of Tidebreaker and its connection to the Coal Loader and Ballast Point Reserve

Tidebreaker

As one ventures through the historical Coal Loader, they witness remnants of Sydney’s industrial history, serving as a major site for industrial activities. “Tidebreaker" seeks to capture these historical narratives through theatrical performances, drawing inspiration from Italo Calvino's "Invisible Cities," which explores how human perception and memories shape our understanding of reality. As the Cammeraygal People once shared their dreamtime stories, so did our Maritime ancestors through the form of poems. It is this passing of stories through personal voices that “Tidebreaker” embodies, collecting poetic passages from the public where they are translated and shared through the art of theatre.
