Explorational perspective of cranes in motion, shifting dynamically based on waste weight—illustrating the environmental impact of accumulated human consumption.

Waste Collection Station - cause and effect of our actions

My architectural project for the 2025 Osaka World Expo explores a waste collection pavilion designed to show the cause and effect of our actions on the environment. Through a system of cranes and changing building forms, the structure responds dynamically to waste accumulation throughout the day, illustrating the impact of human consumption. The pavilion’s evolving shape and spatial experience mirror the cascading effects of climate change, urban sprawl, and natural disasters, such as tsunamis. Visitors see firsthand how waste transforms the environment, creating an urgent reminder of our collective responsibility to manage our footprint.

Cranes shift and reshape, controlled by the weight of accumulated waste, symbolizing the environmental impact of our actions.
