A red boardwalk extends off the south-west foreshore of Ballast Point, inviting the public into three circular steel pavilions.

4 Pavilions at Ballast Point

4 Pavilions at Ballast Point; one positioned parallel to a sandstone cutaway on the land, facing the ocean, and three smaller, circular structures, floating on concrete plinths. Each structure was developed through the spacial cues in Marina Abramovic’ performance art-works; a wall, a table and two chairs, or a room split into three pieces. There is an intent behind the pavilions for them to become pieces of urban art within the landscape. Beyond the strict choreographing of the performance experience, is a simple architecture, almost like that of a playground. Light steel frames; to climb on, sit under, swing on or wander past.
