The Broken Hill

This waterfront theatre seamlessly blends architecture with its natural surroundings, creating an immersive space that connects art, history, and nature. Designed with versatility, the building features two layers of structure, a cone-shaped structure that hosts the auditorium and the surrounding ring-shaped structure draws on local heritage with arches and columns inspired by the Curlew artist camp. The theatre embraces sustainability. Its foundation supports marine life and promotes the breeding of White’s Seahorses in collaboration with the Sydney Institute of Marine Science. Public spaces, including a flexible area with panoramic Sydney Harbour views, offer opportunities for recreation and community engagement. Overall, the theatre is a dynamic cultural destination that fosters a deeper connection to both the arts and the environment, highlighting the harmonious relationship between architecture and nature.
