The Performance Sanctuary aims to elicit a sense of Collective Effervescence among visitors as they step onto the vessel and share in a special experience bonding strangers through choir

The Performance Sanctuary

In a society of a greater move away from traditional religion, there exists a need for a shared experience to fill this space in an ever chaotic life, giving greater meaning to the everyday experience. The Performance Sanctuary is a travelling, floating theatre bringing people together, connecting over choir and song to elicit a feeling of collective effervescence. Ideas from traditional religions such as belonging and powerful shared collective moments between strangers have inspired the design. A growing agnostic population and loss of traditional institutions of community has lent for this space to take inspiration from ideas that traditional religion fosters.
