This project re-envisions Cockatoo Island as a cultural center that integrates Indigenous storytelling, architectural typology, and landscape. Inspired by the island’s history and environment, the layout establishes three key nodes—Songline Museum, Yarning Circle, and Herb Medicine Center—to connect visitors with Indigenous culture. Adopting Aldo Rossi's Third Typology, the design utilizes sandstone seating, counterweight doors, and pathways blended into the landscape with detail designs at a human scale to support cultural continuity and community interaction. This design emphasizes the value of Indigenous knowledge and spatial practices in modern architectural narratives and cultural preservation.
The architect of Cockatoo Island integrates Australian Indigenous culture, using details like windows, vents, and doors to bridge the building with nature, symbolizing cultural fusion and enhancing environmental connection.
Different spatial organizations create diverse interior landscapes within the architecture.
These plans showcase the Songline Museum's second floor, Yarning Circle layout, and Herb Medicine Center. They highlight spaces that integrate cultural storytelling, and communal gathering, emphasizing connection and environmental harmony.
