Eveleigh’s Garden is a Centre for Wellness that fosters opportunities for self-healing and self-realisation. More specifically, the project seeks to nurture the balance between body and mind. When the body and mind are in disharmony, one may begin to detach from their environment and relationships and feel emotionally and mentally weakened. Therefore, the project looks to alleviate the symptoms of disconnect by reconnecting one to their senses by harnessing the power of nature and the healing power of the sun. Eveleigh’s Garden looks to help the user effectively articulate their own thoughts and responses by creating spaces that provoke moments of clarity and reflection.
Eveleigh's Garden Floor Plan. Building orientation and program zoning was established based on the cardinal points of the compass. This created four distinct zones, unified by the central communal space.
Eveleigh's Garden North, West and South Elevation. The building is recessed 1.5m into natural ground level, maintaining a ridge height of 6m, ensuring limited visibility from the main road, Wilson Street. Sedum roofs and surrounding vegetation create a discrete, unassuming building that maintains a connection to nature.
Quiet Corner Interior Render. The compact modular blade wall intersects from the outside into the building, allowing users to display items of familiarity.
Yoga Studio Interior Render. The yoga studio is oriented facing south east to gain optimal morning sun and minimise harsh afternoon sun. It includes a wrap around balcony, taking advantage of the proposed meditative gardens at the rear of the sub-precinct.
Eveleigh's Garden Exterior Render. The entrance is located in the east of the building. It aims to be subtle and unassuming, enclosed by proposed vegetation to warmly embrace its users.
