The theatre awakes as dusk falls. An external render view of Prometheus Theatre.

Prometheus Theatre

Prometheus Theatre is an experiential space located at South Head, a historically somber site on the edge of Sydney Harbour. Inspired by Aeschylus’ Prometheus Bound and the site’s legacy of tragic shipwrecks, war, and loss, the theatre immerses the audience in a journey through profound suffering. The experience begins as the audience enters a lift descending into an underground tunnel—a visceral prelude leading into a cylindrical theatre of concrete arches and sandstone. This mystical abyss transitions the audience into a realm of myth and imagination, where the theatre becomes an introspective space, guiding them toward a moment of peripeteia and a deeper understanding of the human condition.
