Reform has been commissioned by the Australian government to design and build the Australian Pavilion for the 2025 Osaka World Expo, positioning Australia as a leader in carbon Reform within architecture.

Reform

In response to the capitalist growth paradox, I propose an enterprise called Reform—a company that commercializes obsolete, second-hand objects by assessing their value as construction materials and exploring potential configurations and assemblies as building modules and components. The pavilion’s construction is phased and it will be built over the duration of the expo by visitors through the workshops it hosts. This emphasizes the importance of process in construction, engaging visitors with the act of building and with the objects themselves.

In the gallery, visitors learn about Reforms' methodologies through scaled models. They are encouraged to submit suggestions for objects they believe should be considered for inclusion in the inventory database.

The workshop is the heart of the pavilion where visitors come together to actively participate in its construction. 10 visitors per workshop per hour.

The counterweighted doors use a lever to activate the counterweight gearbox, raising and lowering the door. The accessible drawbridge uses a lever-operated wheel to wind a cable that lifts it.

The phased construction approach encourages visitors to personally engage with objects. At Reform, we believe that all objects retain a residual value.
