Parquet Theatre

Performance and creative expression is ever-present in Bicentennial Park Glebe, a testament to its success in provision of public amenity, amidst the increasingly developed landscape of neighbouring suburbs like Pyrmont. This project seeks to weave existing park typologies into the theatre, to have a unifying treatment of the ground plane that intentionally disguises division between park and theatre. The form is more concerned with indicating programmatic and circulatory possibilities rather than circumscribing a particular event. Navigation towards the amphitheatre is not marked by iconographic identification or vertical grandeur, but instead primarily sound-led.
