The Event of a Thread

The project engages with long-standing theories of art and architectural processes, revealing new intersections and pathways to inform practice. A deconstructed heritage building is reimagined as a series of follies, exploring the stylistic and conceptual principles of abstraction and the potential of the Gesamtkunstwerk to weave new narratives with layers of existing fabric. Tracing twists and turns through history and theory, the journey begins with Anni Albers and gradually uncovers a network of expanding relationships, where “tangential subjects come into view. The thoughts, however, can, I believe, be traced back to the event of a thread.”
