In “Murder on Shark Island,” the architectural design goes beyond mere functionality to create a unified and immersive experience across the various spaces, from the reception to the theatre and the communal areas. Central to this cohesion is the consistent structural approach, which draws inspiration from the design of the boat that transports the audience from Rose Bay to Shark Island. Recognizing the potential for sound interference from the ocean, a curved shape was introduced for the boat, allowing it to better manage and control acoustics during the performances on the water. This thoughtful consideration of sound design not only enhances the audience’s auditory experience but also creates a sense of intimacy, despite the open ocean environment.
