Rather than impose use, the architecture focuses on the cultivation of conditions. The project works through two complementary spatial logics. Anchors and fields. Together they organise the Depot as a relational framework.
Anchors offer highly specific rooms with a clear identity. They are precise in scale and atmosphere, designed to concentrate certain kinds of activity.
Fields are zones of 'loose fit' space. These are not empty. They are tuned through subtle cues - a change in level, a bench along an edge, a change in floor finish.
The three anchors: the heavy fabrication workshop, light fabrication workshop, and the small-scale theatre, provide the building’s focal points, while the fields between them hold a looser, more adaptable rhythm.
Reversible insertions, bolted connections, and suspended systems form a flexible, legible framework. Brick, concrete, steel, acrylic, and plywood shape a clear, direct material language grounded in restraint and honesty.
