Tracing The Landscape

The Gadigal Centre of Excellence is conceived as a place of confluence, shaped by terrain, flora, and movement. Situated on Gadigal Country, it becomes both a place of learning and a source of learning, grounded in deep listening. A central lightwell follows the natural contours of Maze Crescent, drawing light inward and guiding circulation. The building yields to mature trees, creating pockets for vertical gardens planted with native species, while terraced rooftop gardens extend ecological continuity. Concrete columns, brick walls, and timber elements express an honest structural rhythm. Public spaces gather around the lightwell, with quieter learning areas positioned above.
