HAVEN OF HOPE_Healing Community Centre and Youth Accommodation

This thesis proposes ‘Haven of Hope,’ a Healing Community Centre and Youth Accommodation for young survivors of family, domestic, and sexual violence aged 15–21. The project focuses on transforming conventional shelter models into long-term restorative environments through Trauma-Informed Design supported by neuroscience and evidence-based strategies. Drawing on salutogenic, biophilic, and mental and behavioural health frameworks, the design applies three core strategies: creating physical and emotional safety, enabling autonomy and personal agency, and providing enriched, stimulating environments that support psychological recovery. The aim is to rebuild the meaning of home as a space of healing, dignity, and renewed identity.
