Flexible Family Frames

This project aims to challenge the current rigidity of the built environment by re-imagining design approaches for intergenerational housing. As our spatial needs continually evolve, architecture often fails to adapt in response - leaving us to adjust our lifestyles around static structures. We are adapting to our structures instead of the other way around. The pavilion design for the Osaka World Expo acts as a platform to explore diverse strategies for flexible architecture, illustrating how the built environment shapes the way we live. It questions the conventional notion of static housing design and advocates for adaptable structures that support multigenerational living, accommodating diverse family typologies through different seasons of life.
