View on site approach focusing on the streetscape view during early morning from Eastern Avenue, highlighting building materiality, skin transparency and overall lightweight structure.
The module shape of the kit-of-parts’s geometric form, draws on the vernacular architecture of the existing buildings. Taking inspiration from the Gothic style construction of the Anderson Stuart, it emulates this shape and re-purposes it for a series of in-between spaces and detached satellite structures.
The overall eastern axonometric of the immediate site within the Camperdown precinct, with the proposal wrapping around the Anderson Stuart heritage building as the main external intervention.
The modules creating opportunities for users to present and exhibit their work to the public, creating a sense of ownsership. Courtyards create a collective experience of users inhabiting a space that becomes the threshold between public and private as they enter the mental health spaces above.
The sectional perspectives illustrate moments of interaction within the programs as users, predominantly younger people, and the public within Campderdown go about their everyday activities. As well as illustrating the shared interactions of the public gallery, cafe, and interstitial spaces, juxtaposed against the adjacent more intimate and quiet mental health areas above.
Floor plans demonstrating how then modules arrange and inhabit the site, gently wrapping around and mimicing the existing forms of the Anderson Stuart building to create pockets of in-between and gathering spaces.
