Legibility Politics and Indigenous Urban Public Space Identity: Pocket Space
Section, elevation and the progress of the whole project
Expandable pocket pavilions enclose the plaza, accommodating activities such as lectures, markets, information desks, and informal gatherings.
Enclosed by a single entrance, this quiet, private, semi-transparent pocket allows outsiders to see occupants without revealing their identities—ideal for casual chats and small group discussions.
Fragmented pockets nestled between the church and office building form a ribbon-like space, while open conversation circles facilitate multiple parallel discussions.
When the three pockets fold inward, their separate audiences merge into a shared bonfire arena, creating a central stage for speeches, film screenings, ceremonies, and large community gatherings.
