Barzakh : A threshold of the in between.

Barzakh : A threshold of the in between.

The Remnant Basin

This project begins with an unseen creek and a demolished rotunda. The remaining fragments of sandstone lifted from the past gathers into a gabion vessel that holds light, water and silence gives the lost basin a melancholic structure. Guided by the idea of Barzakh, a place separating the past and present, the work sits between what was erased and what endures, between the weight of stone and the memory of flowing water. The gabion wall becomes a living threshold, absorbing rain, growing moss, and carrying traces of a story long buried beneath the campus. It stands as a human scale act of care, rebuilding from what was lost and giving form to the in between.
