The plan was the corpora of the project. The building's image and language were found through the plan, not imposed upon it.

Up to nine rooms can be negotiated between units, accommodating for growing or shrinking family sizes. This porosity also allows one, two, three or four families to reside under the one roof.

To council, there will be nothing to see here. Covering less of the site and being no taller than the existing, the building could be described as a ‘trojan house’.

Housing doesn’t work when it’s obvious and when it reminds us of its inadequacies. Housing works when we don’t notice it, when it’s peripheral and incidental to our lives.

As a pattern for transformation, this project envisions a future where these designs have started to arrange ever so quietly, without notice.
