It is a stance against consumption, demonstrating that the broken still matters, memory can be preserved and identity can be reinforced through human connection and time. Repairing transcends simple upkeep. In mending a broken chair, we do more than restore its function, we pour in our labor, creativity, and time. This co-creative act leaves the imprint of our hands and choices on the object, elevating it to a new realm of value. The BKK Repair Commons reimagines Cabramatta’s Bangkok Shopping Centre as a community-led repair, skills-exchange and reuse hub that reconnects people with their possessions, cultivates repair cultures, and offers a compact, sustainable model for urban living and community wellbeing.
