Commonscape

Commonscape reimagines Oak Street, Katoomba, as a connected and inclusive neighbourhood grounded in Country and community. The design brings together 28 multi-storey affordable cluster homes arranged around yarning circles and community centres to foster social interaction and belonging. Scattered cultural hubs, a plant nursery, and storytelling nodes enrich daily life while celebrating Indigenous knowledge and the natural landscape. Step-free routes, accessible amenities, and visible transport connections prioritise walking, cycling, and public transit, while art, signage, and lighting enhance wayfinding and identity. This living environment honours place, promotes sustainability, and strengthens the connection between people, culture, and Country.
