Interwoven

Interwoven: Gadigal Centre of Excellence reimagines International House through the framework of weaving people, knowledge and materials. Once built to foster cultural exchange, the building is unpicked and rewoven into Storytelling and Stewardship Hubs that honour Indigenous culture and the Gadigal land they stand on. Central to this transformation is a dedicated land management facility, where care for Country shapes learning and innovation. Water is reintroduced as a guiding thread, its passage through the site recalling the course of Blackwattle Creek that once flowed through adjacent Victoria Park. Interwoven renews the site as a porous fabric, opening to light, air and water, and blurring thresholds between inside and outside, grounding learning in immersion and fostering a deeper connection with the land.
