Located next to the train station, at the busy intersection of King Street and Enmore Road - the Tram Depot has sat ready for demolition for years.
In this proposal, all new design elements break the grid. These individual perforating spaces provide moments of clarity, and interruptions intend to physically and metaphorically change the way users think.
This project proposes the conversion of the dilapidated tram depot to an ‘inverted museum,’ whose architecture perforates the façade to help re-discover the world through the lens of a child.
The hope of this design is for users to realise that there is not a need for elaborate games to play sincerely. You just need to look out your window!
In the words of Architect and European playground designer Aldo Van-Eyke; “Children by playing rediscovered the world. Adults, by watching, rediscovered the child within themselves.”
