The Integrated Urbanism Studio is the capstone unit of the Master of Urbanism degree, addressing real-world urban challenges and the need to develop strategic solutions that persuade the public, stakeholders, politicians and investors.
In 2025, students planned and designed strategically for High-Speed Rail (HSR) in Australia, focusing on the corridor between Sydney and Melbourne.
The corridor ranks as one of the world's busiest air routes, contributing significantly to carbon emissions; a HSR connection presents a generational opportunity to reshape economic, cultural and physical landscapes, particularly around new station precincts.
Multidisciplinary teams developed strategic plans for the corridor, each focusing on one of seventeen potential station locations, exploring how HSR could deliver environmental care and stewardship, economic vitality, heritage conservation, cultural development and sustainable growth through integrated land use and transport planning.
